Plasma sterilization, or low-temperature hydrogen peroxide gas plasma sterilization, is a modern method of sterilization applied to moisture-sensitive/heat-sensitive medical items. It is realized by vaporizing hydrogen peroxide and exciting it into a plasma by making use of an electromagnetic field. Reactive species that are very successful in killing microorganisms like bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores to ensure sterilization is complete, and this does not form any toxic substance.
Most of the tools that are dealt with in dental clinics are very delicate, like mirrors, scalers, forceps, handpieces, and probes, which typically cannot bear a lot of heat. Plasma sterilization is an effective, non-arming and non-leave-behind process. It is compatible with devices that are sensitive to heat and made up of plastic, fiber-optic, and rubber materials.
Various reusable instruments used by dental clinics come in contact with patients' oral tissues and blood, which is why the range is wide. This is important in the control of infection and patient safety by ensuring that the tools used have been sterilized well. Plasma sterilizers provide a safe, fast, and green technology that is perfect in a dental atmosphere.
Handpieces, mirrors, ultrasonic scalers, and plastic syringes (and other similar devices with a polymer component) are generally heat-sensitive dental instruments. Plasma sterilizers give efficient sterilization at lower temperatures (usually 45-55 °C), which does not damage the structure of this equipment.
Plasma is readily able to penetrate into crevices to sterilize such instruments as dental suction tips, endodontic files, and surgical aspirators due to their narrow cavities and lumens.
The plasma sterilizers provide reduced cycle time (generally 30-60 minutes), so that the instruments can be reprocessed quicker, resulting in minimum disturbance to patient scheduling.
As compared to certain chemical sterilants, there is no toxic residual in H₂O₂ plasma; hence, the process is safe to both the practitioner and the patient. There is no need for post-sterilization aeration.
The miniaturization and touch-screen interface, coupled with the in-built safety features, enable the plasma sterilizers manufactured by Sterile Safequip & Chemicals Limited to allow easy use of the instrument even in small dental clinics with few technical personnel.
We empathize with the special needs of the dental practitioners, and at Sterile Safequip and Chemicals LLP , we are focused on providing a solution to these special needs. We have designed our Plasma Sterilizer solutions in dental clinics to be precise, safe, fast, and reliable in a small and convenient package. In infection control, we are dedicated to making a difference by bringing the most advanced technology and the best support to dental care.
